Submission details
The contestants have to submit an online technical summary of their design and describe briefly the technical underpinnings of their product. The initial round of judging will then commence and those who qualify in the screening may then proceed on to the next stage. The first round entries can be submitted online here or they can be mailed to manan.shah@ecell-iitkgp.org.
The finalists have to submit a hard bound copy during E-Summit. This would include the following details in the given order:
- The first page should consist of the names of the team members, the relevant field to which the entry is related including the department specification to which product is related, names of mentors(if any) and any other references academic or otherwise
- A brief abstract describing the intent and the motivation behind their product
- A summary of its working and technical aspects preferably illustrated with clear and precise diagrams
- Comments on the innovations design aspects and technical, marketing and economic feasibility
- Technical challenges confronted and how they were overcome
- A plan containing detailed and exhaustive information regarding the products construction must be submitted
- Stand out features of the product in comparison to its rivals existing in the market
- Relevant technical documentation (blueprints and specifications) MUST be submitted. In case of software innovations, full details of the program, such as the algorithms used, third party tools and source code must be submitted
These details will be kept confidential. A note on the products Intellectual property value is optional.
Though it is not mandatory for the teams to present a working model or assembly parts of their products during the final judging, a working model shall help convince the judges about the feasibility of the product. Participants are advised to inform us before hand the requirement of any external software or hardware required for their presentation. Candidates should refrain from submitting an overly abstract or bulky product. The judges decision would be final and binding.
All the winners will be awarded certificates of participation, in addition to the cash prizes on the basis of the judges final decisions. Successful teams would further get a chance to develop the innovation further and receive mentorship and incubation from organizations such as DST, DSIR, TIETS and Venture Capitalists.
