Gerard J. Rego is the Chairman & CEO of VayuGrid Marketplace Services Pvt. Ltd. A 19 year industry background in the ICT industry in India, he last served as VP & GM India Product Development MSC Software India, the global leader in Enterprise Simulation and CAE. Gerard’s passion in sustainable development, the environment, people, mentoring and the BOP as a for-profit, inclusive capitalism, as a model for the future. As a cofounder of VayuGrid whose mission to build a For Profit Social Business that intends to impact over 1% of India’s Fragmented 100m+ Farming community, with less than 1% of the total land area and 2% of India’s diesel energy market with non-edible SVO (Straight Vegetable Oil) & Biodiesel within the next 10 years, through Inclusive, Aggregated, Sustainable & Replicable rural supply chain ecosystem`!
Gerard’s background is in creating, leading & managing supply chains models, business model innovation and services with domain and technology cross-functional teams for new product development/ engineering/management. His industry exposure spans Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Renewables, Aerospace & Defense, Automotive, ICT, www, CAD/CAM/CAE and Logistics. Gerard was selected as a Reuters Digital Vision Fellow at Stanford University in ‘06 which attracts the technologists and social entrepreneurs across the world and also selected as a Wharton Fellow in ‘05 and is a Donor Member of the Society of Fellows at the Aspen Institute. Gerard has a Bachelor’s in Math, a Masters in Sociology and is currently completing a research thesis in Innovation for an MPhil in Entrepreneurship. Featured among the top 20 bigwigs in India’s silicon valley in 1998 by Express Computers Bangalore. Gerard was selected for the Pune 2006 Super Achievers Award given to outstanding business entrepreneurs and executives. Gerard serves on the Advisory Board of Knowledge@WhartonIndia. Gerard is a Charter Member of TiE Pune Chapter.
